# Check a delivery record by its evidence code

`POST https://api.parasend.com/v1/public/verify`

Source: https://parasend.com/docs/api/verify/check

No API key is needed.
Send an `Idempotency-Key` header: a retry with the same key returns the first answer.

The check behind `parasend.com/verify`: anyone holding a Delivery Certificate can confirm that Parasend issued the record, that its seals are intact by Parasend's own check, and what it records. No key is needed; the code is the only input and is sent in the body, never in the URL. An unknown code and a malformed one get the same answer. Limited per caller to 120 lookups an hour and 20 misses in 10 minutes.

## Body (application/json)

- `code` (string, required): The evidence code printed under the QR on the certificate.

## Example: Check a delivery record by its evidence code

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.parasend.com/v1/public/verify" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)"
```

```js
const res = await fetch('https://api.parasend.com/v1/public/verify', {
  method: 'POST',
  headers: {
    'Idempotency-Key': crypto.randomUUID(),
  },
});
const data = await res.json();
```

## Response 200

The record, "not ready" while its latest event is being sealed, or "not found".

Content type: application/json.

Errors: one shape, `{"error": {type, code, message, param, request_id}}`; every code is listed at https://parasend.com/docs/errors.
