# Introduction

Source: https://parasend.com/docs

The Parasend API sends documents that prove they arrived. You send a **delivery** to one recipient: one or more files, a title and how the recipient must identify themselves. Parasend tells the recipient by e-mail, SMS or both. The recipient opens the link, verifies at the level you chose (eID, an ID document check, an SMS code, or the link alone) and confirms receipt. Every step is written into a sealed **evidence record**, and every delivery has a **Delivery Certificate** you can keep, print or hand to a court.

It is a REST API that speaks JSON over HTTPS, with signed webhooks for everything that happens.

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.parasend.com/v1/deliveries" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PARASEND_KEY" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "recipient": { "email": "anna.bjork@example.com", "verification_level": "high" },
    "files": ["fil_01M6P3Q7Z8XK2VQ4N9R5T1W3YB"],
    "title": "Final notice: invoice 2026-114",
    "language": "en"
  }'
```

## Where to start

- **[Quickstart](/docs/quickstart)**: your first delivery in five minutes, with a test key.
- **[Authentication](/docs/authentication)**: test keys and live keys, and what each permission allows.
- **[Test and live mode](/docs/test-mode)**: test mode sends nothing and costs nothing, so try everything there first.
- **[Receiving webhooks](/docs/webhooks)**: be told when the recipient opens, verifies and confirms.
- **[API reference](/docs/api/deliveries)**: every endpoint, with examples in cURL, Node.js, Python, C#, Java and PHP.

## How it fits together

1. **Upload** the files with [Upload a file](/docs/api/files/upload). Each gets a `fil_` ID and its SHA-256.
2. **Send** a delivery with [Create a delivery](/docs/api/deliveries/create), or many at once with a [batch](/docs/api/batches).
3. **Follow** it: the events `delivery.notified`, `delivery.opened`, `delivery.confirmed` and the rest reach your [webhook endpoint](/docs/api/webhooks/create), or you [list events](/docs/api/events/list).
4. **Prove** it: download the [Delivery Certificate](/docs/api/evidence/certificate) (PDF) and the [evidence record](/docs/api/evidence/record) (XML). Anyone holding the certificate can [check the record](/docs/api/verify/check) at parasend.com/verify.

Reminders follow automatically if the recipient does not confirm, by the [follow-up policy](/docs/api/follow-up-policies) you choose. Your notices can carry your own look, sending address and link domain through [brand profiles](/docs/api/brand-profiles).

## Base URL

```text
https://api.parasend.com/v1
```

The same address serves test keys and live keys; the key decides the mode. Parasend runs in the EU, in AWS Ireland.

## For AI agents

Every page here is also Markdown: add `.md` to the address, or use **Copy for LLM** at the top of a page. [llms.txt](/docs/llms.txt) indexes the docs, [llms-full.txt](/docs/llms-full.txt) holds the whole API in one file, and [openapi.json](/docs/openapi.json) is the OpenAPI 3.1 description.
